Course Overview
Bachelor of Science (Nautical Science)
This program is approved by the Director General of Shipping, Government of India. The design of the course is as per the guidelines laid down by the Directorate General of Shipping. This training provides a School (X+II)/(‘A’ Level) leaver a sure path to become a qualified Deck Officer.
During the 36 Months training at the Academy, the candidate is familiarized with various aspects in workshop comprising of Carpentry, Plumbing, Machine Shop, Electrical Shop and Hot Work. He is also required to complete mandatory STCW courses. On successful completion, the B.Sc in Nautical Science is awarded by Indian Maritime University (IMU).
Following this, the candidate undertakes a sea phase for 12 months on-board ship residential training. Trainees are then required to undergo 4 months of post-sea training in any training institute (2nd Mate Function) approved by D.G. Shipping. Upon successful completion and passing the exam, they are awarded a Certificate of Competency (COC) by D.G. Shipping and a B.Sc. Degree by IMU.

Pre-Requisites
10+2 PCM (60%) / Diploma or B.Sc (55%). English (50%). IMU-CET, Interview & Medical Selection.
Pre-Sea Training
12 Months (Semester 1 & 2) in Academy (Approved by D.G. Shipping, Govt. of India).
Sea Phase (Deck Cadet)
12 Months On-Board Training as Deck Cadet.
Stipend: U.S. $300 - $450Post-Sea Training & Exams
4 Months Preparatory Post-Sea Training. Obtain 2nd Mate COC & B.Sc Nautical Science Degree (IMU).
Navigating Officer (3rd / 2nd)
Complete 18 Months Sea Time as 3rd/2nd Officer.
Salary: U.S. $3500 - $55001st Mate COC
6 Months Preparatory Training (D.G. Shipping). Obtain 1st Mate COC.
1st Navigating Officer
Complete 18 Months Sea Time as 1st Officer.
Salary: U.S. $5500 - $8500Master Mariner (Captain)
Obtain Master (Foreign Going) COC and sail as Captain of the ship.
Salary: U.S. $8500 - $12000Requirements

Academic Qualification:
10+2 (‘A’ Levels) with PCM (min 60%) OR B.Sc. Graduates/Diploma with min 55% marks. Minimum 50% marks in English at 10th or 12th level is mandatory.

Age Limit:
Not exceeding 25 years on the date of commencement of training.

Medical Fitness:
Medically fit with eyesight 6/6, without external aids. No colour blindness.

Aptitude test followed by CET of IMU. Final selection after medical check-up through approved panel Doctors.
